How far are you willing to go to discover the truth about your father's murder and avenge him? Necromancy is forbidden in Rulsthen, a small monarchy at the tip of the Adriatic Sea. Your father struck a great blow against the necromantic arts in the Lich War, but then why does he have a forbidden spellbook secreted away in his study? Descend into the darkness to uncover the truth, wrestle with madness, and get revenge!
The Necromancer's Tale is a heavily story-driven role-playing game in which you play as a minor 18th Century noble with renowned father who has recently died. In this game, interact with over 150 unique and carefully-written characters who will both help and hinder your path to the truth. Wield the dark arts of necromancy to achieve your goals, or rely upon your skills and reputation to get what you want. Perform rituals, attend a lavish ball, and commune with the dead in this narrative game.
This game is developed by Psychic Software in conjunction with Spiderwinkle Games. It features top-down, tactical combat, but the real gem is the narrative role-playing game elements not unlike those found in Disco Elysium.
As a writer for The Necromancer's Tale, I contibuted over 175,000 words to the game script, writing narration and dialogue for several dozen characters.
The Necromancer's Tale comes out in July 2025, but you can play a three-hour demo on our Steam page. We also have several videos showcasing the game over on YouTube. Below are some of my favorites.
